The M.E.D recently changed their response system to compliance questions. As of now, they no longer discuss answers outside the context of the statutes involved. Instead, they only site the information directly out of the statutes.

This change took place approximately 3 months ago. This affects all licensed business holders of all licence types.

For example, a business owner may call into the MED to ask complex question like, “What if we keep the keys to our surveillance equipment in the safe, but people who do not have access to surveillance equipment have access to they keys?”

Today, you would get an answer like, “R306 (A)(2) – All video surveillance records and recordings must be stored in a secure area that is only accessible to a Licensee’s management staff.”

This is cut and dry, and a direct quote of the statute. In the past they would discuss other ways to store them or alternative options.
